Our WorkingProcess
Designing / Cutting of Materials
HIT has a central Design/Simulation Centre mandated to conduct R&D on armouring solutions, identification/optimization of ballistic materials and to conduct post armouring analysis/simulations.
Armoring Process
Steel is welded using ER-307(recommended for hardened steel grades) on MIG/TIG welding plants with suitable overlaps to avoid vulnerable areas. Optimized welding current/feed rate and shielding gas is adjusted. It is emphasized that continuous welding be avoided and only tack weld/intermittent stitch welding be applied to avoid heat zones.
Quality Control
All processes are ISO 9001:2015 certified, with rigorous inspections by Quality Assurance and ITD teams. Prototype and production Hilux vehicles undergo extensive mobility, ballistic, and blast testing, including live fire trials, on HIT’s 5 km test track to ensure compliance with international standards.
Field Testing/Validation
HIT has a 6.1 km paved and cross-country test track where all vehicles are tested as per international standards by inspectors and users.
User's Satisfaction
Products are manufactured to ensure user satisfaction through close involvement from material procurement to final testing and robust after-sales support with quick response times.

Designing/Cutting of Materials
Design/Simulation Centre
HIT has a central Design / Simulation Centre focused on R&D for armoring solutions, optimizing ballistic materials, and post-armoring analysis and simulations. The center is equipped with:
- High-performance computers
- Licensed software (Creo Parametric, MATLAB, ANSYS, Lab View)
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM for accurate measurements)
- 3D scanners
Material Cutting
Materials are cut into the minimum possible pieces using modern CNC Water Jet and Laser Cut machines.
Armoring
Steel is welded using ER-307 on MIG / TIG welding plants with suitable overlaps to minimize vulnerable areas. Optimal welding current, feed rate, and shielding gas are carefully set. Continuous welding is avoided to prevent heat-affected zones.
Control
- All processes are ISO 9001-2015 certified.
- Processes and products undergo stringent inspections by the Quality Assurance Department and ITD Inspectorate teams.
- Prototypes, like the Hilux vehicle, undergo extensive mobility, ballistic, and blast testing. Random vehicles from production batches are also live fire-tested.
Field Testing / Validation
HIT has a 5 km paved and cross-country test track where vehicles are tested to international standards by inspectors and users.
User Satisfaction
- Ensuring quality from material procurement to final testing.
- Strong after-sales services with quick response times.
QualityCheck
Vendor Selection and Material Quality
Only experienced and vetted vendors are allowed in procurement, ensuring materials from top brands worldwide. This includes steel from Finland, Belgium, and France, and bulletproof glass from UAE and Türkiye.
Premium Upgrades and Components
High-quality components for performance upgrades are sourced from global brands, such as suspension systems from Australia and the UK, braking systems from Australia, the UK, and the USA, and power enhancement kits from South Africa and the UK.
Ballistic and Mechanical Standards
Materials undergo rigorous testing per international standards (EN 1522/1523 and STANAG 4569 for ballistic protection, UK MOD Std 95-24 for chemical and mechanical integrity) to meet stringent requirements in hardness, strength, and durability.
In-House Ballistic Testing Laboratory
HIT’s certified ballistic testing lab, developed with Hephaestus Consulting (UK), is equipped with advanced firing, velocity measurement, and ammunition calibration tools, enabling comprehensive in-house testing up to 14.5 mm calibers.
Military-Grade Testing and Inspection
Inspectorates of Armament and Vehicle & Engineering Equipment from Pakistan Army's ITD Directorate follow rigorous inspection protocols, ensuring all materials and parts meet the highest military standards.s

Procurement and Sourcing Process
Only vendors with a proven track record and experience are allowed to participate in HIT’s procurement process, ensuring reliable quality and performance. Materials are sourced from globally recognized brands, including steel from Miilux (Finland), Quardian (Belgium), and Mars/Fast (France), as well as bulletproof glass from Glass Solutions (UAE) and Armass Glass (Turkey). High-performance components are selected according to specific needs: suspension parts from Outback Armour (Australia) and Bilstein Thyssenkrupp (UK), brakes from DBA (Australia) and Alcon (UK), and run-flat tires from Runflat International (UK) and Hutchinson (USA). Additional upgrades include clutch systems from Australian Clutch System and power enhancement kits from Unichip (South Africa).
Rigorous Testing and Quality Assurance
Materials and components undergo rigorous testing in compliance with international standards, including EN 1522/1523 and STANAG 4569 for ballistic resistance, and UK MOD Standard 95-24 for various chemical and mechanical properties. HIT’s state-of-the-art ISO-certified Ballistic Effect Testing Laboratory, developed with Hephaestus Consulting (UK), is equipped with advanced technology for precise measurements and projectile testing. Further oversight is provided by the Inspectorates of Armament and Vehicle & Engineering Equipment, adhering to strict protocols set by the Pakistan Army’s ITD Directorate.
